Glorilyn Joyce Ong
Phillipines
Dr. Ong, or simply “Lyn” to her friends, is an emergency physician in the Philippines who finds her passion for crafting and teaching. She believes that having minimal resources should not limit anyone in learning procedural skills to be a good emergency physician. So she conducts sim sessions with residents utilizing low-fidelity (low-fi) sim models made up of simple, cheap, and accessible materials with added creativity to put together something as close to real life as possible. She dreams of having a sim model making video channel someday to share ideas with emergency physicians and educators around the world. When not in scrubs, she’s listening to her 80s and 90s playlist, watching a new tv series, or playing with her cuddly dogs.

Nelson Nyamu
Kenya
I'm Nelson Nyamu, an Emergency Medicine physician from Kenya. My journey to Emergency Medicine has been quite convoluted with the gift of excellent mentors along the way. Having there being no Residency program for Emergency Medicine in Kenya, and with my interest in Primary Care, I opted to pursue a Master of Medicine in Family Medicine at the Aga Khan University Hospital - Nairobi. It's during this time that I learnt of the South Africa accredited Emergency Medicine Diploma program run by the only Emergency Physician in Kenya at the time - Dr Benjamin Wachira. Luckily, my interest to pursue this program was accepted by the faculty in Family Medicine and I enrolled to pursue to both programs concurrently. I'm currently an Emergency Medicine Specialty Doctor in the United Kingdom still expanding my knowledge and skillset. On reflection, I'm a product of the goodwill of the many mentors I have bumped into along my journey and who are now friends.
